Following World War II the land of Japan was burned out, people had to started their lives from nothing. In the year 1952, when Japan started to recover from defeat, it was struck a series of natural disasters. Food provisions were running short everywhere in Japan and people didn't have enough rice. In this situation our company succeeded in producing an artificial rice earlier than any other company and was encouraged by the government as a national promoted business. Our artificial rice was a mixture of sweet potato and wheat flour with vitamins B1 and B2, and calcium was added to make it more nutritious than real rice. As the artificial rice became popular, other inferior ones were marketed to end the boom of artificial rice; which caused serious damage but it also gave our company the opportunity to develop the business of corn starch. The efforts to improve the artificial rice led to success in manufacturing corn starch. |
